Mike joined our retail and leasing team in 2015 and oversees the landlord and tenant representation for the company. As part of this role, Mike has handled the complete lease-up of new shopping centers such as Magothy Gateway and Westminster Station and the complete redevelopment of Normandy Shopping Center and Towson Commons. In that role Mike has earned Costar’s Power Broker designation in 2017, 2019 and 2020. Mike has leased and/or drafted and negotiated the lease with hundreds of national and local tenants including: Tractor Supply Company, Aldi, Outback, CVS, BJ’s Brewhouse, Cinemark Movie Theatres, Bass Pro Shops, The Cheesecake Factory, Columbia Sportswear, Dollar Tree, Petco, Verizon, Tuesday Morning, Planet Fitness, My Salon Suites, Hibbett Sports, Shoe Show, On the Border, Stumpy’s Hatchet House, Get Air Trampoline Park, Chipotle, Iron Age Grill, Qdoba, Salon Plaza, Honey Pig, Starbucks, Express Care, Acme Markets and Bonefish Grill. He has vast experience representing the tenant including a four state regional role out of Surplus Freight Furniture and countless restaurant deals including franchisees of national concepts such as Blaze Pizza and Dunkin Donuts. Prior to joining mfi, Mike worked at The Cordish Companies for 7+ years in a variety of roles, most recently as the Director of their Shopping Center division. There, Mike was responsible for the leasing, development, and management of a portfolio of 22 centers. Mike has overseen the development of new retail space and has managed the construction of new centers and the rehabilitation of old centers, personally overseeing in excess of $100m in construction in his career. He has extensive experience in all areas of the closing of real estate transactions and financing, including the packaged sale of four shopping centers valued in excess of $250 million dollars and the acquisition of several properties for mfi and for clients. Additionally, Mike has experience in property tax appeals including personally trying cases in the Maryland Tax Court and arguing a property tax assessment issue in the Court of Appeals in Maryland. Mike holds his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and a B.S. in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University, where he played Lacrosse and was a three-time All- Academic Big Ten Conference selectee.
